Hah, it’s a bit tongue-in-cheek as I do actually have a couple of those types I discuss ideas with. But to backtest an idea or to even just watch how potential trades work live doesn’t require being a quant. The complexities of actually building a backtest that’s giving you a valid idea of how a strategy works is no joke, let alone one on an options strategy. In many cases, I’ve just used observation --> live trade in a very small size --> scale up if I like what I see.
